Painted Canister Holder & Wine Glass

This is a gift I made for my sister and my mother.
The canister's were actually Bailey's canisters. The canisters were given to me by a friend that works in bar & restaurant...I recycled it by painting them with enamal paint and purchased wine glasses from what use to be a 99 cent store for only $1.19 each. All together I only spent about $4.90...talk about bargin and savings.

I turned two plain objects into elegant decor pieces.

                                             Tip

The center around the canister of first picture is a piece of art paper...before I placed it on the canister, I painted the paper first with acrylic paint then I stamped it with ink. I then painted flowers over the background. Using Mod Podge, I carefully decoupaged it on the can...I placed the mod podge on the can first a section at a time, placing the paper and pressing as I add mod podge...mod podge will smudge the stamping ink once you start layering it on top of paper...I layered it using one stroke at a time on each section until it dried to prevent ink smudge. Then I gave it another top layer.

There are different kinds of mod podge. I used Mod Podge Gloss Luster by Plaid.

New Blossom Addition

This doll is my gift to a very special little girl...my niece.

I made this carry along tote bag so she can carry the doll and all her accesories anywhere she pleases.

She will have the security of keeping all her clothes, shoes, and other things she wishes to put in these handy pouches whithout fear of misplacing them or worse losing them.

Ahhh...she is ready to go to her new home.

These Blossom Petal's are on there way to be mass produced. They will be available for purchase next year...I will also be giving some away.

I am working on developing more clothes patterns. But for now I will continue to make these lovely dresses in different fabric prints using the same patterns.

Tip

I don't use any kind of special doll hair...I go to my local beauty supply store and purchase synthetic hair.

The cost of the brand I bought was only $3.99. One pack is enough for about three of my dolls.
When making my first two Blossom Petal's named Carol and Beth I used synthetic weaving hair. I didn't know how to sew it on...I did the best I could. The latest two Blossom Petal's I decided to buy synthetic extension hair...the one used for braiding hair...I found a different way to add the hair and I think it actually works better than the latter. This will be my choice of hair for now on.

I prefer using curly hair. This particular hair is yaky synthetic and the texture is very silky, soft, and shiney. In my opinion it's actually better than the weave synthetic hair I first bought.

I so-o-o-o love the shine.

Because their feet are so small I created a shoe crochet pattern. Besides I really don't know where to purchase shoe's for them or make them out of fabric.

I actually used real vintage fabric to make this dress...cool huh...and what's also cool is that the little girls or women are able to wear the flower hair clips also. The crochet hair clips I originally made them for us female's, I sell them on my women online store...and so they go great because of the doll's theme name.

Blossom Petals

The creation of Blossom Petal's were inspired by Beth who created Mini Free Spirits crochet dolls.

Blossom Petal's measure about 8" tall. Beth is made of a thick muslin fabric and Carol is made of craft velour. Both fabrics were great to work with. I will be experimenting with other fabrics as well to see what works best (I prefer using fabrics that don't ravel when sewing cloth dolls). I used pipe cleaners for the limbs which makes them poss able (also inspired by Beth...she uses them in her crochet Free Spirit dolls).

It was an honor to name the first after you Beth.

All Dressed Up

They are modeling a crochet short sleeve sweater and matching crochet matching shoes...plus a crochet hair clip accessory. They are also rocking a skinny strap dress.
